rjs, you are correct
Palin became the joke of the year, and after the election she will remain the joke and John McCain's Harriet Myers.
"including Rick Davis who
"including Rick Davis who has deep connections with Fannie May and Freddie Mack. "
Am adviser to Obama is Frank Raines. A man who took millions of dollars in false bonuses and has been fined for manipulating numbers. He is not in jail because Obama, Dodd, Frank, and Schumer accepted money and helped him to dodge responsibility. He made a killing and caused most of this damage pursuing money for his own pocket.
I can show you that Obama personally blocked legislation proposed by McCain to reign in the FM's. The law is a nevolving thing.
Deregulation is good for us. McCain's intent is not to let them run loose. For god's sake, the man tried to make it so we could buy cable by the channel instead of packages. He is the consumers advocate.
MCCAIN'S LOBBYISTS AGAINST REGULATION
It's McCain that just like in 2000 is still receiving pac money and has a bunch of lobbyists working for him in his campaign, including Rick Davis who has deep connections with Fannie May and Freddie Mack. McCain can try all he wants, but accusing his opponent who has not been in the Senate for 26 years advocating against regulation is not going to help him. It's been McCain that stated more than once he doesn't know anything about the economy, said the fundamentals of the economy are strong, and his own economic advisor who said the American people should stop whining. That’s why the McCain camp does not want to talk about the economy and tries to label Obama as a terrorist. The McCain camp should explain why Lugar took Obama to the former Soviet Union to investigate unsecured weapon piles and sponsored legislation with him to prevent WMD from falling in the hands of terrorists.
back to the issues
You can change all of that by simply discussing the issues. Now I asked you a question.
Are you aware that Obama played a large role in contributing for the largest economic crisis of our lifetimes?
Do you actually understand how involved he really was? Does it bother you that he points a finger at others but is in it deeper than they?
who is Sarah Palin?
One of the reasons for her nondestructive performance was the restrictive format that did not allow for real debate. It's unfortunate we don't get to see a real debate. I would still like an answer from the McCain camp how looking out the window and seeing Russia, and Putin entering US air space in Alaska, equates to knowing something about Russia for one. As Hagel said, it's an insult. The McCain camp hopes Americans have short memories as it understands all too well that Ms. Palin is not ready. I bet ya we will not see anymore interviews with follow up questions before the elections.
the issue at hand is the VP
the issue at hand is the VP debate, but to respond to Ira's question anyway. Both viable candidates had a hand in the current crisis along with a boatload of other people. My hope is that Obama has the better chance of getting us out of it than McCain. Further, there is the war in Iraq. McCain claims we must stay in it to retain our honor, a word that is a silly buzzword the way he uses it. Obama wants to get us out of it. Taking a broader view, I know niether man will be able to live up to their campaign promises due to political expediences. I think I trust Obama more than McCain to make the right choices in the face of those expediences. I use "think" and "trust" becuase I don't anyone knows or can predict. I certainly trust Biden more than Palin.
discuss this issue????
Most of the people on here don't want to discuss anything all they want to do is sa "you are wrong and I'm right".
Ok noon, let's talk business
I agree. The comment was poorly written. Now that we know you are reading perhaps we can discuss real issues.
Are you aware that Obama played a large role in contributing for the largest economic crisis of our lifetimes?
What is your take on that? The information is readily available right here on these boards.
"Do we really want a "homeboy" in the White House?"
Irony at its finest. Whine about people talking about the racial component to this election and then make a questionably racist remark. Tell me this. How do you define "homeboy" since you saw fit to put it into scare quotes. I personally would like it if one of my homeboys (though I don't use the term except in jest) got elected.
gosh darnit Joe
There you go again looking behind instead of forward. Grin, Wink, grin, Wink!
Of all the nerve when Republicans still blame Clinton for everything under the sun. You have to look at where you've been for the past 8 years (Bush) in order to go forward, because McCain is just like George Bush 95% of the time. That does not speak well of McCain at all. Palin did not answer many questions, and kept going back to her position in the small populated Alaska. She thinks she's speaking to socker Mom's, and the "Joe 6 packs", God what a doumb comment, but infact Moose Mamma is 5 beers short of Joe's six pack.
the bomb
Here is another story that links Frank to Fannie May not only financially, but romantically. This tidbit is courtesy of Marym who could not figure out how to post it.
http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx
For those who do not actually read the stories, here is a quick review;
Barney Frank's lover(Herb Moses) was an executive at FM while the problems were occuring. At the time Frank accepted money from them and often defended their short fallings. He even touted FM's bright future which affected investors.
Enjoy and 'cheers' to mary.
Names in the White House
Names such as homeboy, six pack joe, rednecks, yankees or hockey moms are really just tags attached to people that are meaningless to most enlightened voters... Do we really want to lable every segment of our population? Get over it.
Frankly I don't care what name you call each other or yourselves. I just want somebody in the White House who can bring this country together again. McCain isn't that person so "homeboy" or whatever name you want to throw on Senator Obama is alright with me. In the end, President is the name that will stick. Vote Obama 2008!!!
Who is the racist?
"Those that oppose Obama support bringing back slavery." This is racism at its finest. Tonight I saw a young black male wearing a shirt proclaiming "Barack is my homeboy" Do we really want a "homeboy" in the White House?
ches37....
Dude, do you believe the tripe you are writing or are you just being sarcastic?
Is Palin a Airhead?
"You Betcha"!
Debate
Ches37
Don't try to put yourself off as a supporter of Obama. Don't insult
African Americans by saying vote for him because of slavery, etc.
Vote for his policies, his character and his intellect. Don't forget
Jessie Jackson ran for President and the majority of blacks did not vote for him. Obama has what it takes. Please stop hiding behind your
racism and come out and let us know your true color.
Sarah Palin
I must write again. What does it say about us as a country that we not demand the best of our leaders? McCain was 894 out of 898 in his class.
Sarah Palin shows that she lacks the capacity think deeply and take on complex issues.
She attended so many different schools before finishing college that I can't remember.
I can't believe the right wing is taking her own as their standard bearer after her comments about giving gay couples the same rights as non gays, which I completely agree with, but I would have thought I would have been labeled a liberal, which is fine with me. I would ask that we focus on what America can become again - at home and abroad. If you like mediocrity then McCain Palin is the team for you. I will cast my vote for Obama-Biden.
Mccain sold us out today
Obama warned us over and over, daily for years, about the financial crisis is coming. Mccain ignored it. Today Mccain votes to spend taxpayer money to fix the problem he created. Obama had the guts to stand against the bill. Mccain claims he was beaten in a Vietnam prision but had that been true, it would have been illegal and we would have heard about charges. No evidence of anyone being charged, none, period. There you have absolute evidence that it never happened. Palin broke down during the debate, obviously frooze up and appeared to have a complete breakdown and crying. as MSNBC said, she was run off the stage. Not to say that eventually there could be a woman qualified to be VP (Michele Obama)..Those that oppose Obama support bringing back slavery. We do have a duty to remedy the slavery that still exists today by voting him in regardless of whether you think he is fit or not.
Sarah Palin and Joe Biden
To say that Sarah Palin's intellectual ability is suitable to be vice president and possibly president is an insult to thinking people of America. She did not answer questions directly and stated she probably would not. She sounded as if she were a PTA president or a beauty queen. I question McCain's judgment to nominate her for simply political reasons to attract Hilary Clinton voters. Come on America, do we have to become a third world country before we wake us and acknowledge that intellectual acuity does count. Who is she talking about "Joe Six Pack and the cutesy winks?" She did much better than the Katie Couric interviews but her answers were all so rehearsed she could not get off script. As Hilary Clinton says: No Way No How No McCain. He is out of touch.
Diversion is not Winning!
I've read a number of posts indicating that Palin won..... I missed that part and I watched most of the debate. You don't win a debate by ignoring the question and talking about whatever you wanted to say in the first place! Maybe people watching forgot the questions by the time she was done answering but I doubt her excuse is as innocent.
Some of the reasons I'd never vote McCain:
from--- http://pol.moveon.org/mccain10/
He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10
John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.
McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4
McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katri
that not backbone
it's wishbone, wishing for a job the Wasilla Wacko will never get.
Why??????
Anyone who votes for the McCain/Palin ticket, has to be living under a rock! Factcheck.org does not lie but so far McCain has lied so much he cannot keep up with them and nor can I. Not to say that Obama/Biden are angels but if I had to make a valid choice, Obama/Biden hands down. She is not qualified to complete a sentence and I give her credit she was well rehearsed and really danced around last night. It is unfortunate that I live in a state that has made race a Big issue Obama comes from two cultures and that should be greatly noted but not an issue. I am not afraid of anything and they have not instilled fear in me in anyway. I am claiming victory for Obama/Biden in November and it is a good thing that Virginia is only one of the many states in the Country.
Palin for President
Since Sarah is the only one with any…backbone let’s all write her name in on Nov 4th. McWhatHisName has gone AWOL on the real issues!
Why are we even in Iraq?
Why are we even in Iraq? Someone explain it to me.
Did they have WMD'S?
Did they ask to be liberated?
Did they help with 9-11?
Do they need help getting their oil out of the ground?
Who cares about a surge we shouldn't even be there.
Let's have an exit strategy so my brother won't have to go back for a 3rd time.
Change is what we need. Be responsible. Vote Obama. Time to get the Republicans who have run this country into the ground, out of office.
Thank You and please register.
re: big win
"The results of the VP debate are in: Sarah by a landslide.
She took on the far more experianced Biden and won strongly. She will make a great VP.
Come on Virginia stay a red state and vote her and John McCain into office."
Sorry there, buddy, and I hate to burst your bubble, but you better take another look at those poll numbers. Palin was a disgrace last night, and she is 5 beers short of Joe's six pack.
Don't go there, Ira
Don't even get me started on the whole bail out thing. The economists are already coming out saying $700B wasn't enough, and California is only the first state to show up looking for a hand out. While Palin was right to chide Wall Street and "Joe six-pack" for their part in the "crisis", I wish she had named Raines, Frank, Waters, and the rest responsible for the subprime crime. Raines should be sharing cell with the Enron guys, but it'll never happen. If Obama is elected, Raines will probably be Secretary of State.
get something straight
"He is simply bothered that someone was able to get attention by being shallower and more insulting than he."
He is a she (me). Gertz is short for Gertrude, a name my grandchildren jokingly gave me. Some people never did know what they were talking about, they just babble, babble, and babble.
Big Win
The results of the VP debate are in: Sarah by a landslide.
She took on the far more experianced Biden and won strongly. She will make a great VP.
Come on Virginia stay a red state and vote her and John McCain into office.
Now I'm the editor
Ooooooh! I guess he showed you!
LOL
That last post will make me laugh all weekend. Maybe iwill ride by people w/ Obama stickers and shout "MCCAIN/PALIN" so I can hear their sqeaking tirades of abuse for fun. Most of the debates go like this:
"I am voting for McCain for valid reasons" and then I support my statement.
Theirs are like this:
"Your mama! Moose mama! What about Palin's kids? Obama speaks better! Your a racist!
and on and on and ...
To Gertz
I agree with you. Am I NOT going to vote for Palin? "You betcha"! Wink
Wink from someone who doesn't drink a six pack and enjoys a glass of wine every now and then. And by the way, that winking business was unprofessional and inappropriate in those circumstances. You can't win votes with your cuteness, sweety pie! If you could, I would have run for President myself!!!!
