Even McCain's son is a victim of campaign-sign thieves

VIRGINIA BEACH

SO, THIEVES SWIPED your Obama sign? Vandals knocked down your McCain placard? Take heart: Even a son of the Republican presidential nominee is having a rough time keeping a campaign sign posted in his yard.

Doug McCain, eldest son of Sen. John McCain, said Tuesday that five signs promoting his father for president have been stolen in the past few months, including one last week. His mother has lost four signs to theft. Others in their North End neighborhood have gotten the same treatment, he said.

"I don't want Obama people to think it's something unique to them, because it's certainly not," he said, adding that it wasn't clear whether kids or adults were behind the thefts.

Supporters of both major presidential candidates have reported campaign signs being stolen across the region, but spokes people for police said they had not heard many reports of sign theft.

Representatives for John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama encouraged supporters whose signs have been stolen to contact local campaign offices for new signs.

even McCain's son??????

Even McCain's son has been victim to having signs stolen

SO WHAT? McCain's son is no better than anyone else, and who cares if his signs get stolen? Stolen signs happen during every campaign.

Ethan ... Scott Taylor; Really?

You said he seemed like a nice enough guy. I agreed with everything you said prior to that. Two parties are at it and the principal of taking the public attention away but what about the details? Th3 only candidate that has specifically spoken to the direct issues running in his local campaign is Glenn Nye. I mean actual issues or differences. You began your fatigue with the political escapades but hen you ended it by being pacified just like the rest of the sheep.. BAaaaahh.
Scott Taylor; ask him specifics ; he has none

RE: nothing learned after 20 years

"Obama is not black."

I would say you don't pay ANY attention to the news of any kind to make that comment.

Nothing learned after 20 years...

America isn't learning much...

Obama is not black.

McCain is not a maverick.

Both candidates are part of the same dynasty that has ruled the USA for decades, quite directly for the last 20 years.

Both major parties are now liberal, and most of them are neocons. Yes, I said most democrats are also neocons. The Republican party was just a convenient point of infestation for them.

Neither party and neither set of candidates will honor our constitution, and both have socialist policies, and support a federal government that is bloated, out of control, and largely illegal now.

McCain is slightly the lesser of two evils. The only reason I can think of to vote for him is it *might* make it easier for the growing libertarian movement to get people into office.

We need to get all of these pigs out of power, and give the power of government back to the states, and limit the Fed to what its real mission is.

ethan it's now more interesting

I just heard on the news that political signs in VA Beach at Holland and Princess Anne, have been spray painted. Some things make you wonder.

Oh come on

This whole Ayres, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, ACORN, Rezko, Wright stuff is old news. (And don't forget the Muslim thing. That's old news, too.) The only people talking about this stuff are desperate Republicans who have nothing better to say about their own candidates. Senator McCain's tap dancing as fast as he can, trying to find some traction among even his own party members. Governor Palin's not even in sync with McCain on one of their core issues, and her lack of understanding of the concept of ethics becomes more embarrassing every day.

And this whole socialism fear Where in the world have you all been the last 200+ years?

Election is close-getting a bit crazy here

First "Bob the Canvasser": you must be the best canvasser EVER to have over half of the houses you hit, first, have someone home, and then give you their opinion.

Next, this comment: Jeremiah Wright (and who may not be an American citizen). Well, did you know Rev. Wright is a Vietnam veteran? Yes, he is an American. So who else doesn't qualify as an American today? Is this part of Virginia-real Virginia? Or if we don't agree with you, we need to be investigated as un-American?

interesting

"if you're going to make a statement, then spray paint on the signs. This way they are still standing, and are converted to negative advertising. Removing it would only help your cause a little, defacement would go further"

I certainkly hope this isn't coming from experience, but then again you never know.

boblakeman

“We canvassed 40 houses on Sunday and found 25 McCain supporters, 1 Obama supporter and 14 houses where no one answered the door.”

Those 14 houses are probabaly foreclosures............

Hmm

First, when I see a sign for either McCain or Obama I think "Man what sheep!" The lame presidential elections and two party bickering is to keep the Americans distracted while the bankers and elite pick the country clean. Second, if you're going to make a statement, then spray paint on the signs. This way they are still standing, and are converted to negative advertising. Removing it would only help your cause a little, defacement would go further. Third, I've met that Scott Taylor guy (At a HRTC event) and he seemed like a nice enough guy. I can see the people removing Sessom's signs but not Taylors.
