CHESAPEAKE

A 48-year-old Chesapeake man was indicted this week on a charge of aggravated sexual battery in the sexual abuse of a comatose female patient at a nursing home.

Mark S. Albright of the 1400 block of Rodgers Street in South Norfolk is accused of the abuse of a patient at Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the 600 block of Kingsborough Square off North Battlefield Boulevard. A trial date has not been set, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Nancy Parr.

Albright, a licensed practical nurse, was employed at the center. Police said a female employee at the nursing center entered the room of a 43-year-old patient on July 3 to conduct nightly medical duties. When she opened the door, the employee “observed suspect Mark Albright with his mouth on’’ the woman’s breast, according to a police affidavit filed in Chesapeake Circuit Court.

The patient, who was in a coma and unresponsive, had been at the center for about a year, police said. Albright is no longer employed at the center.
