Doug McCain, son of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, told the Downtown Republican Club today that the mainstream media had hoped Gov. Sarah Palin would “fall on her face” during Thursday night’s vice presidential debate and today would be saying “this thing is over.”
Instead, McCain told the group, Palin held her own.
“I promise you,” McCain said, “on election night, it’s going to be very close.”
By one scenario, he said, the electoral college could wind up tied at 269 votes each – of 270 needed to become president – and the outcome could be determined by a few Congressional districts in Maine.
He urged members of the group, which met at the Town Point Club, to put signs in their yards and make phone calls.
“I’m optimistic we will get a visit from my dad and Governor Palin down in the Tidwater area,” he said, “and if we do, I think it will put us over the top.”
McCain lives in Virginia Beach and is a pilot for American Airlines.

They say you get the government you deserve
Unfortunately, I get the same government. To all the big government Republicans who have squandered so many opportunities since 1994, I say "Thank you ever so much." Call it ineptitude, stupidity, incompetence or whatever you like, we stand to inherit the most massive, liberal, wealth redistributing, socialist administrations in the history of the world, and a lot of like minded people are in Congress. That's a dangerous combination for the American taxpayer. I think the thing that infuriates me the most is that anybody with any number of imagined problems from drug abuse to not being able to read can get a check from the feds for not working, but my stepdad served 20 years in the Navy and had a stroke, but he can't qualify for the same money OR live on his Navy pension, and he can't work. My neighbors generally don't work, but have the latest XBOX, $150 sneakers, SUVs, and are so well fed they can barely walk because they are so fat. Apparently you DO get the government you deserve.
let ther be no mistake
Not only am I voting for Obama/Biden, everyone I know is doing the same. Got it staight now?
Sorry about that
Sorry Doug. Some of the posters are not very direct. They use kinda of a Dr. Suess/insult method to parlay their thoughts in print. It's ok. I think they are trying to say they are voting for Obama. I'm not sure but I think that may the case.
What
else could anyone expect? If he found any fault with Palin's performance, he'd be indirectly criticizing his father's judgement.
MCCAIN/PALIN SIGNS AND BUMPER STICKERS
I've had a sign in my yard for two weeks. Call your local Repub. Elect. Office or go to the Jackson-Hewitt office in the Brombley Shopping Ctr on Military Hwy across from Super K at the intersection of Military and Norview!
i remember now....
i seem to recall seeing a bunch of McCain/Palin signs in the lion's cage at the Norfolk Zoo the other day...i think a good time to retrieve the signs would be around feeding time....help yourself....j/k, have a good weekend, folks....
sorry doug
But Sarah Palin was a total embarrassment to the McCain's campaign and as a VP representing the U.S. The winking, moose mamma showed no class at all. When she said she though the VP should have additional powers, I laughted out loud. She needs to lay of the "six pakcs" until after the election. "Joe, six pack"????? Is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard come out of a VP's mouth, including Dick Cheney, and that's saying a lot.
Hey Doug
Where can we get the signs? I looked on the net but found nowhere lcoally.
