Film of the Week: Amélie
Amélie, directed by Jean- Pierre Jeunet, has, and will remain, one of my favorite films of all time.
Amélie is a French film about a curious and light- hearted young women who roams the streets of Paris with amiable curiosity. As a sheltered child falsely diagnosed with a heart problem by her eccentric parents, Amélie grew up with seldom connections to the outside world, and now, as an independent and curious women, she takes pleasure in the simple delights of the world. She roams Paris with an air of magical delight that's impossible not to love. Her entertainment consists of enjoying the simple things in life by enacting practical and inside jokes and spying on unusual activities of her neighbors. As you watch the film you follow Amélie as she goes on a quest to fix other people's lives and in the process she potentially fixes her own life as well.
A good audience for Amélie is an audience that can enjoy and appreciate a film of unusual and fluffy topics. Either way though, I think it's a brilliant film that I recommend to all people for the experience of the movie - and relax, you can watch it in subtitles. I've found a trailer on YouTube, but unfortunately I couldn't find one with English subtitles. There might be an American Trailer but I couldn't find it, look it up if you're interested and enjoy!

Amélie is rated R
