Letters to Editor - bLetters
We welcome your opinion on public issues, in either of two ways. You can submit a letter to the editor for possible publication in the printed edition. The Virginian-Pilot welcomes letters to the editor on all topics, although concise letters (150 words or less) on public issues will receive priority. Letters may be edited for length, style and clarity and writers are limited to one published letter every month. Please add your name, city, street address and daytime telephone number for confirmation.
The other way is to comment on the published letters in this blog. In this online forum, you can comment as much as you want by using the comment box at the end of each entry.

It seems the producers of
It seems the producers of this site are making one of their common mistkaes by duplicating the threads.
I voted for Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. I would have considered McCain in 2000 but it wasn't an option. I did not vote in the primaries either year. Now it's McCain in 2008. Never voted for any of the Bush's.
I admit that I voted for Bush
McCain had dropped out by the time the primaries came to the state I was in.
I wholeheartedly believe that if McCain had won in 2000, he would have handled the 9/11 attack better as well as Iraq's non-compliance to the weapons inspectors a few years later.
Write-In
I voted for John McCain in 2000. Unfortunately, since George W. Bush (and Karl Rove) sabotaged him in South Carolina and went on to win the Republican nomination, my vote was a write-in.
My, my...
I voted for the person who won the popular vote and surely would not have us in the mess that is our country now. Call me liberal if you want, but as I have said specifically to you before, I have quite proudly supported many, many Republicans in the past, and there are many Republicans that I will continue to vote for in the future should they be on the ballot. I do not call myself Republican or Democrat. I vote for what I believe is the best candidate based on what I think the country needs. Unfortunately for you, it is people like me who decide elections because we are in the middle and swing towards the party we feel has timely and appropriate solutions. It is evident you are nothing more than a far, right-wing conservative who buys into the desperate attempts of the Republican party this year to say no one should be looking at recent history but instead only looking forward. Give us all a break, will ya? Those who do not learn from their mistakes are condemned to repeat them.
keep looking back
Yep, it's so. Tell me what difference it makes who I or anyone voted for in the 2000 republican primary. Seriously. Who did you vote for, and why does it matter? Plenty of current problems to fix, why do people like the letter writer and apparently liberal military family members wish to blame voters who didn't vote for McCain eight years ago? It makes absolutely no sense.
Looking Forward?
Say it ain't so, Joe... are you seriously pulling straight from Sarah Palin with "let's look forward", justanotheruser? That's the funny thing, when it's politically convenient, we're told we aren't supposed to look at history. What difference it makes, is that so many people pushing for McCain act like he's the best thing that's ever happened to the Republican party, yet many, many of them didn't even vote for him in 2000... and instead voted for arguably the worst president in American history. Judgment, my friend, it's very important. Why should anyone trust the opinion of someone who voted for George Bush? The author of this letter makes a very good point.
LOL...
This is hilarious! Truly the best Letter to the Editor I have seen and an exceptionally valid question.
history
I don't suppose you'd mind telling us who you voted for, or what earthly difference it makes? Honestly, try looking forward for a change...
