A Circuit Court judge on Wednesday found that a man charged with killing his roommate in a townhouse complex last year was insane at the time of the incident.
Judge Frederick Lowe ordered that Steven Jackson, 37, of the 800 block of Old Virginia Beach Road, return to the custody of Central State Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Jackson pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to first-degree murder. Jackson and his roommate were involved in a dispute on Sept. 19, 2007 when Jackson struck the man in the head with a blunt object.
Jackson is scheduled to return to court for a hearing at a later date.
