Lane closures scheduled during work on Gilmerton Bridge

Utility work on the Gilmerton Bridge will cause lane closures into December, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The work will begin today and crews will use open lanes to try to cut down on backups across the bridge, according to a VDOT news release.

From 6 to 9 a.m., two eastbound lanes will be open and one westbound lane will be open, the release says.

From 3 to 6 p.m., two westbound lanes will be open and one eastbound lane will be open.

At other times, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions, the release says.
