Jump start on resort fashions

We're just starting to adapt our clothing for the cooler weather, but the fashion industry is turning its attention toward resort wear. This weekend, fine women's clothier Moorea is hosting a trunk show in which fashions from the SYLA resort collections will be available at discounted prices. The show is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Moorea is located at 233 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach.

Children's fashion show to benefit local charities

The American Girl Fashion Show is set for Nov. 8-9 at Norfolk Marriott Waterside Hotel in Norfolk. The event is sponsored by The Dolphin Circle to raise proceeds for the CHKD Child Abuse Center, Edmarc Hospice for Children, Make-A-Wish Foundation and other local children's charities. The event kicks off at 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 8 and 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. Approximately 160 local models will showcase historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls. Tickets are $40 each. To order, call (757) 377-6492 or visit www.dolphincirclevb.com.
