McCain and Obama plan weekend visits to Virginia

Posted to: Elections News Virginia

RICHMOND

Presidential candidates return to battleground Virginia late this week.

A Democratic official said Tuesday that Barack Obama will visit the Roanoke area on Friday. Times and locations have not been worked out.

A high-ranking Republican says John McCain will be in Prince William County on Saturday. The time and venue for that event isn't set, either.

Both officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of confidentiality because neither campaign had announced the visits.

Polls show the candidates neck and neck in Virginia.

McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, were in Virginia Beach on Monday, their second Virginia event. Either Obama or his running mate, Joe Biden have held eight Virginia events since June.

finally, a high ranking Republican?

Will Sen. McCain fire his VP and put a real Republican like Lugar on this ticket?

The high ranking Republicans I admire have refused to campaign for McCain during the last two years. Why? Where is Senator Lugar? Lugar did not mention anything about off-shore drilling during his talk last week, but instead focused on the role the next president should play in promoting renewable, homegrown energy. Why did Lugar chose to work with Senator Obama instead of Senator McCain to prevent WMD from falling in the hands of terrorists? Have Palin/McCain forgotten 9/11 like Bush Junior?
