McCain's bad timing

I watched the second presidential debate in disbelief. It was sad to see a once-noble warrior from a patrician military family shuffling around like some down-at-the-heels vaudeville entertainer desperately trying to make contact with the people. 'My friends,' we need a leader, not a stand-up comic from a local corner watering hole.

Sen. McCain voted against his party's excesses on a few occasions but, by and large, he toed the party line. He has the misfortune to have won his party's nomination in a year when the reckoning for all those excesses is coming due.

It is a given that Sen. Obama does not have the years of experience in the Senate to match his opponent. That could be a blessing in that he has not been in Washington long enough to have been corrupted by the lobbyists and influence peddlers.

Truth be told, there is no way to gain experience in managing the enormous duties and responsibilities of the president except on the job.

Sen. Obama has prepared himself through education and enlightenment in the nation's best and most demanding universities to be ready when the opportunity presents itself. He has the self-discipline, temperament, willingness to learn, and ability to apply that knowledge to better serve the interests of our nation's citizens.

We have rarely faced greater challenges in our nation's history. I look forward to a presidency of new ideas, new solutions, new hopes and new optimism. Sen. Obama will provide that presidency.

#1 Quality

One person cannot make the change needed alone. As someone who has worked hard throughout my life, I look for one major quality when someone works next to me and that is to try. Just honestly try to help move our onjective forward. The #1 quality displayed in an effort to succeed is to show up for work. Educated or not, Obama has a clear record of an inability to start the day where he was elected to be.

Brpster

What article that brings something new to the table? The article about the republican ad? That is spin -- I'm not spinning anything. Nothing new has been brought to the table.

AM

the article states that letter was written to the judges a few months back. Since then he has made his deal and is spilling the beans. Don't try to spin it, read the whole article.

Retiredguy and brpster

with the Rezko bit, Rezko wrote a letter saying that prosecutors are pressuring him to tell what he SUPPOSEDLY knows about the governor and Obama. Retiredguy, these association games are foolish, as evidenced by McCain's acknowledgement that things are getting out of control. If you want to play that little game, remember what McCain stated about the Keating 5, at least when he was a POW, he was able to get out with his honor. McCain got lucky -- because of a technicality. Those who buy in to the fact that Obama is somehow unfit for matters of national security are either grossly ill-informed or incapable of rational thought. The fearmongering and hatred tactic is blowing up in McCain's face, and it shows the true colors of people such as Hannity and Limbaugh -- idiots and liars.

Read the AP article

in today's paper, Oct. 11th, about Rezko. He hasn't given up anything on Obama yet, but has admitted to buying the Chicago government...getting the Governor in trouble now, and admits to buying board posts for friends, and the land next to Obama's house to help him buy that house, and then sell Obama another 10 feet of WHILE Rezko was under indictment. Remember what your parents used to say? "You are known by the company you keep."

Judgement by association

If a person hangs out with a motorcycle gang, it's presumed that he/she shares their values.
If a person associates with drug dealers, it's presumed that he/she is also involved in nefarious activities.
Obama has associated himself with a domestic terrorist and a black liberation theologist, among others. One of those associations was only terminated when Obama was forced into it by TV clips of white-hating, anti-American rhetoric. These associations don't make Obama a terrorist or a advocate of black liberation theology, but they do call into question his moral character which is a fair game for a presidential nominee.

I wonder how Obama will be cleared to view the nation's most sensitive secrets? If he was in the military and submitted to a background check, with his background he wouldn't qualify for a confidential clearance, and you want him to to be Commander in Chief of our armed

People, people

The association game is not a good one to play. You act as if McCain is a saint. That level of politics is one reason the McCain campaign is tanking. McCain himself even addressed these charges last night, getting booed for stating that Obama would make a good president and is an honorable man. The ignorance and hatred displayed by certain McCain supporters is very troubling -- and has no place in presidential politics.

Impressive

The writer forgot to mention that Obama and his helpers have also qualified themselves to be Santa Claus and everyday will be Christmas.

Judgement by Association

Each of those examples are a stretch of logic in an attempt to discredit by association. McCain has been much closer in association to swindlers (Keating 5) right-wing fanatics with fascist connections like Singlaub's "US Council for World Freedom" which supported terrorism worldwide in the '80s, and religious bigots like Rv. Hagee. Don't forget Palin's close association with armed secessionists in Alaska as recently as last spring. If one is to judge a candidate by association, Obama still comes out ahead.

Shady associations

You forgot to mention Obama's affiliation with ACORN and ACORN's role in the mortgage debacle.
You forgot to mention Obama's close association with Bill Ayers, a domestic terrorist.
You forgot to mention Obama's close association with Jeremiah Wright, a black liberation theologist.
You forgot to mention Obama's endorsement by Louis Farahkan as the messiah.

The truth is that Obama's shady associations would prevent him from joining the FBI or Secret Service, the same organizations that will protect him should the voters be tricked by his slick rhetoric on election day.

And, yes, Senator McCain does shuffle around like some down-at-the-heels vaudeville entertainer, as you wrote, but I can assure you that he's not a closet Marxist.

Too many questions

“Sen. Obama has prepared himself through education and enlightenment in the nation's best and most demanding universities to be ready when the opportunity presents itself.”

IF he was from a family of modest means, as he proudly suggests, pray-tell, just how did he pay for the enormous tuition at these stellar institutes of higher learning?
I’ll tell you how…he was financed. But, by whom? An answer that will not be revealed until it is too late.
Mr. Obama has a dubious history tangled in associations with dubious people. There are far too many questions that have yet to be answered about “that one” for him to be ushered into the highest office of this land.
Please look past the superficial glitz and consider the tragic consequences that would happen when all is revealed…when he is in that office.
