Mr. Clean dies; Jessica Alba's scary pic

Original Mr. Clean dies

House Peters Jr., a TV actor who became the original Mr. Clean in Proctor & Gamble's commercials for household cleaners, died Wednesday. He was 92. Peters Jr. played many supporting roles through his career, but was never really the leading man. He never most memorable role came as Mr. Clean - a muscular man with a bald head, a hoop earring and a no-nonsense attitude toward dirt and grime. From the late 1950s and into the early 1960s, Peters Jr. helped advertise the famous household cleaner. Then, seemingly, the cartoon Mr. Clean took the spotlight. Cube is betting P&G just couldn't resist cheap labor that didn't insist on royalty checks. Here's an early ad featuring the cartoon Mr. Clean:

Scary Jessica Alba Ad - Part 2

Every horror story has a sequel, and Jessica Alba is again using shock value to get the word out about the importance of voting. The actress poses for another ad in the Declare Yourself campaign, this time sporting a Hannibal Lecter-type mask called The Muzzler in her provocative appeal to young voters. Explaining her passion for the campaign, Alba said, "If you don't register and vote and make a difference, and hopefully change the bad things that are happening in our country, you are essentially just binding and muzzling yourself." Heads-up: the last day to register to vote is Oct. 6 - so get on it or get muzzled.

Attempted "bra-bery"

Joy Sartin, a lingerie model, was found guilty Wednesday of trying to bribe a cop by taking off her bra. Sartin claimed she kept her money in her bra because she didn't have her purse with her, and she was only offering to pay a traffic ticket with it. A jury, however, decided the 25-year-old lingerie model was trying to bribe a police officer who had stopped her for rolling through a stop sign and other traffic infractions. Cube is elated to learn that "bra-bery" doesn't always work. Careful gals!

Britney goes back to school - for a cause

A New York middle school got a surprise visitor: Britney Spears. The pop star dropped by John Philip Sousa M. S. 142 in The Bronx on Wednesday to present a $10,000 check to be used as an endowment for the school's year-old music program. The donation came from Elizabeth Arden, which is behind Spears's fragrances, Believe, Fantasy and Curious. The school's band director, Sal Mazzola, told the students in advance they would be playing for a "high-profile" guest, but they only learned it would be Spears earlier that morning. (Some kids hoped it would be P. Diddy or Barack Obama.)

David Archuleta makes his acting debut

Well, we thought Disney was going to pick up him, but Nickelondeon got to the baby-faced "Idol" runner-up first. David Archuleta is set to make his acting debut in an episode of Nickelodeon's iCarly. The American Idol Season 7 favorite will play himself when the cameras roll on Thursday, Nickelodeon confirms. In the episode titled "iRocked the Vote," Archuleta, 16, plays a contestant on an Idol-style show called America Sings. He gets a huge spike in votes after winning support in an iCarly webcast. Sounds like the "second-David" won't have to act at all, as his character sounds strangely familar.
