When officials from the Virginia Education Association encouraged members to wear blue last Tuesday to show their support for Barack Obama for president, they crossed a line from educating to politicking.
When an official from the organization claimed that an e-mail to members was just another bit of information, and that nobody would know why the teachers were wearing blue, she crossed a line from naive to disingenuous.
When that e-mail asked VEA members to register two people or talk to somebody about Obama, it asked teachers to cross the line from advocacy to indoctrination.
But when officials from the Republican Party of Virginia (color: red) used the episode to rail against a teachers' organization that has long opposed its candidates, they crossed a line from predictable to reflexive.
When some folks used the occasion to rail against unions and liberal teachers conspiring to brainwash children, they went from being ignored to being irrelevant.
Finally, when people began arguing that primary colors are proof of political bias, the whole incident went from ridiculous to sublime.

Outlaw the teachers union
Virginia needs to pass laws prohibiting teachers or public workers from belonging to any union. The teachers union crossed the line and just highlights the methods liberal democrats will employ to get their democrat candidates elected. They are turning our republic into a third world country and trashing democracy in the process.
