Republican presidential nominee John McCain is scheduled to visit Newport News on Saturday, campaign officials confirmed.
McCain is scheduled to be at Christopher Newport University, in the David Student Union, 1 University Place, on Saturday morning. The doors open at 7 a.m. and the rally begins at 8 a.m.
An Associated Press story earlier had said McCain would stump in Hampton.
McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is scheduled to visit Glen Allen's Deep Run High School, 4801 Twin Hickory Road, on Saturday evening. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the rally begins at 8 p.m.
The pair campaigned together in Virginia Beach earlier this month.
Palin visited several Virginia localities Monday, stumping for support in a state once thought to be a GOP stronghold but now viewed as a battleground in the upcoming election.
Several recent polls of likely state voters indicate that Democrat Barack Obama is leading in the hunt for Virginia's 13 electoral votes.
The AP also is reporting that McCain's mother is coming to Virginia to campaign for her son.
Roberta McCain will make stops this week in Blacksburg, Charlottesville, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Gainesville, Hanover, Harrisonburg, Richmond, Roanoke and Woodbridge between now and Friday, the AP said.
Distribution sites for tickets to the McCain rally Saturday morning are:
- Wittman for Congress Headquarters, 632 Hampton Highway
- Norfolk Victory Headquarters, 6204 N. Military Highway, Suite G
- Virginia Beach Victory Headquarters, 512 S. Independence Blvd., Suite 200
- Chesapeake Regional Victory Headquarters, 124 S. Battlefield Blvd.

You have got to be kidding me. And you use ABC snewz as a resource? Now that’s fair and balanced and unbiased…NOT. ABC is nothing but a spin machine for the messiah.
Obama first praises the civil rights movement for the litigation strategy to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed people. Then he talks of the failure of the supreme court in relation to the Constitutional constrains to delve into redistribution because the constitution prevented it. He clearly states that the tragedy was that they didn’t bring a change to break the constraints of the Constitution.
Just his response toward what he perceives as limitations of the Constitution is enough to give any rational American pause.
monkeyboy
Good point. Hardly anyone one of these people realize that both parties do exactly the same thing except with a different accent. Sounds different, but means the same thing.
People don't realize that they have more choices. But our citizenry is just too darn lazy to figure it out. You'd think that something as important as the "leader of the free world" would do some independent research on who is running.
Instead, just like the pilot, the MSM doesn't tell them that they should do this. Maybe we get what we deserve.
We live in an entitlement society. People believe everything must be handed to them. Information and healthcare.
McCain's coming to Newport News?
Please tell me he's not at the controls of the plane. Better yet, maybe he could get George Bush to land him on the U.S.S. George HW Bush in the Northrup-Grumman yard.
Phrog - repeating verbatim what Palin or Drudge says...
.... doesnt make it so.
"Obama had in fact argued the opposite in the 2001 interview, saying that the civil rights movement had become too focused on making change through the judicial system, rather than from the ground up through community organizations.
In the interview, Obama described one of the "tragedies of the civil rights movement" was that "the civil rights movement became so court-focused".
And as usual, Palin horribly misrepresents the facts. Which reminds me, i have yet to receive an email from my GOP friends that isnt just utterly false.

Bias? nope. It explains why he is here
Virginia has been a historically red state, so the politicians don't often come here. They are all showing up because the race in VA is contested. So McCain's standing in the polls is part of the story. Calm down. Ignoring facts doesn't make them go away and this is a news story, not a campaign ad. When your partisan fever subsides you can look it up again and you'll see that it is so . . .or go back to reading faux news . . .
Uhggg...
Does anyone know the difference between a Democrat and a Republican? the spelling.... when are people going to wake up and realize we have a one party system in this country.... haven't you noticed that they may talk differently but you get the same results no matter what 'party' they claim??? step outside the box and vote for someone who actually has a spine.... Constitution Party, Libertarian party, etc...
More Bias
I also like ow they throw in how Obama has a lead in the polls. They don't mention polls in the Obama stories. The media bias in so unbelievably overwhelming. I wonder how much the Pilot has received from the Obama campaign.
Ever hear of AMT?
Sure BHO won't raise taxes on those making under 250K, but I suggest you look into the Alternative Minimum Tax. Once that drops below the Messiah’s middle-income crowd he can simply proclaim, "I didn't raise your taxes..."
So, please stop with the, “he will give tax breaks to the middle class” garbage.
Bias
Interesting that EVERY Obama story has a link to his website for more information. Can we see more blatant VP bias??

Now, say that about five more times and you will actually believe your own lie.
Obama was clearly stating that the Constitution was limited to what the government CANNOT do and the tragedy is that it doesn't provide what the government can do on behalf of the citizen.
But our framers were much smarter than Mr. Obama. They see government in and of it's self extremely flawed and designed the Constitution to limit the role and power of the government. They did that on purpose. I think they had some clairvoyance in knowing someone like Mr. Obama would come along and try to change how our government is structured.
In other words, it can be said - our founding fathers do not believe in the Change Mr. Obama proposes.
