The city announced today that it has hired a new economic development director.

Cynthia “Cindy” Cave will come to Suffolk from Prince George County, where she has worked in the same position for the past three years.

Cave also worked as director of economic development for Prince Edward County from 2000 to 2003 and as director of economic community and economic development for Southampton County, according to the city’s release.

She will begin in Suffolk on Nov. 3. Former economic development director Tom O’Grady left the position in July.

“I think Cindy’s experience and vision will make her the perfect addition to keep the strong momentum going and Suffolk moving in the right direction,” City Manager Selena Cuffee-Glenn said, according to the release.
