Police have recovered a vehicle they say a man used to escape after sexually assaulting and stabbing his victim, who was tied to a tree.

The vehicle -- a black, four-door 2008 Suzuki Forenza -- was located by an officer on the 800 block of Adams street at approximately 2 p.m., said  police spokeswoman Debbie George. It is being processed for evidence.

According to police the woman had just come home to her apartment in the 100 block of Forest Oak Lane at about 2 a.m. Friday when a man with a gun forced her back into her car and drove her to a wooded area. There he sexually assaulted her, tied her to a tree and stabbed her, police said. The man then left in her car, police said.

The victim was able to escape and flag down a driver in the 800 block of Old Dill Road, police said. She was treated and released from a local hospital.

The assailant is described as black, 20-30 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with short hair and a receding hairline.
