More showers and thunderstorms are expected today as a cold front moves into Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina, the National weather Service says.

This afternoon and evening, a few thunderstorms could become severe with gusty winds and possible hail, the weather service says.

The high today is expected to be in the upper 70s with a low tonight in the mid-50s, according to the forecast on the weather service Web site.

The rain should move out of the area tonight with sunny skies and pleasant temperatures in the low to mid-70s the rest of the week, the weather service says.

Air quality in Hampton Roads is expected to be good today, according to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
