FIELD HOCKEY

Hickory 2, Oscar Smith 0

Charlotte Loen and Lindsay Hendricks had a goal apiece to fuel the Hawks (8-5-1, 6-2-1 Southeastern District) in Wednesday’s victory.

Keeper Megan Hept finished with eight saves.

Nansemond River 2, Indian River 1

Jessica Adams scored with 4:16 left in overtime to win for the No. 8 Warriors.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Granby 3, Lake Taylor 0

Hannah Sater’s 15 service points helped the Comets (17-2, 13-0) win 25-11, 25-10, 25-11 and maintain a one-game lead on Maury in the Eastern District race. Rebecca Sabo added eight kills for the victors, who host Maury in Monday’s regular season finale. A Maury victory would force a playoff for an automatic berth in the Eastern Region tournament.

Maury 3, Wilson 0

The Commodores (13-4, 12-1) swept 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 on the strength of 12 kills and three aces by Megan Horst and 25 assists and four aces from Anna Lewis.

Churchland 3, Norview 2

April Joyner had six kills and seven blocks to lead the Truckers in a 25-18, 25-14, 14-25, 17-25, 15-12 victory.

Casey Lifsey and Casey Adams each served four aces.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Granby 3, Lake Taylor 1

Alex King powered the Comets (16-4, 11-2) with 16 kills in an Eastern District success.

John Eagle produced 24 assists and Dario Valenti totaled 13 service points. Granby locked up second place in the Eastern District behind champion Maury, which improved to 17-0 with a forfeit win over Wilson.

Churchland 3, Norview 0

The Truckers clinched third place in the Eastern District as Ryan Chandler posted 12 kills and T.J. Medley added 15 assists and 15 service points in a 25-14, 25-12, 25-17 romp.
