It could feel a little more like winter today as the slight chance of snow flurries continues along with temperatures in the 40s and blustery conditions, the National Weather Service says.
The high today is expected to be about 43 with a chance for rain and snow after noon changing to snow flurries before 11 p.m., the weather service says.
Winds will be out of the north at 14 to 22 mph with gusts up to 33 mph during the day, dropping to 17 to 21 mph tonight. The low will be in the lower 30s.
Wednesday should be sunny and clear with a high of 41, according to the forecast.
Chilly weather will continue through the week with dips into the low 30s each night, the weather service says.
A gale warning is in effect off the coast while a storm warning was issued by the weather service for Atlantic waters farther off shore.
A low pressure offshore and a high pressure to the west are expected to combine and create strong northwest winds along the coast today and continue through tomorrow, the weather service says.
A coastal flood advisory also was issued for the Outer Banks. Water levels should rise and minor tidal flooding is expected on the sound side of Hatteras Island. Water levels will rise two to three feet from Hatteras Village north to Avon.
