CS & DOUBLE STANDARD

George W. Bush got into Yale through the ultimate affirmative action program, "Legacy"; in which 1 can attend a great college on the merits of relatives. In other words, he got admitted to Yale due to his father & grandfather. He got into Harvard Business school the same way. He most definitely didn't get in either institution on his own merit, as he had a D+ GPA at his private high school & a D+, C- GPA at Yale. Obama, on the other hand graduated with honors.

Even better

than the statement "he even uses footnotes" is the fact many of the footnotes used to "prove his point" are footnotes referring to statements made by the author himself to prove his point. The man refers to himself! It's perfect, you back up your opinion with evidence which you created yourself -- and apparently not too many people are quick enough to pick up on that fact. They just see footnotes, and what the heck, it looks good...

Conservatives seems to prefers priviledge over merit.

According to c.s.

This is precious: "This book

This is precious:
"This book is entirely factual (the author even uses footnotes to back up his statements.)"

Chesapeake has not been a republican stronghold for 44 years. Actually, it was decidedly democrat for a long time. The democrat/republican tide shifted in the late 80's more towards republicans in Chesapeake. As I said, if you understood Chesapeake politics you would understand. Newhart changed parties during the "republican revolution" for lack of a better term.

double standard

"Who cares how he got into Harvard or Columbia, obviously his grades were good enough to keep him enrolled in college."

Ah, but how liberals savaged George Bush about his university experiences. One could say, "Who cares how he got into Yale or Harvard Business School ,obviously his grades were good enough to keep him enrolled in college." Unfortunately, too many liberals have too much invested in trying to sell the idea that all conservatives are stupid (accusations regularly levied against Reagan, who they say was merely good in front of a camera, and the two Bushes, who are said to have been born with silver spoons in their mouths and upon which they both constantly choke) and liberals are g highly intelligent and enlightened (look at how Carter, Clinton, Gore and Obama are treated as geniuses). It will be hard for us all to work together if liberals continually condescend to conservatives and treat them as intellectually inferior. Just because I disagree with you doesn't make me stupid.

To Obama followers...

And yes, you are followers. PLEASE educate yourselves fully and read "The Obama Nation" by Jerome R. Corsi, PhD. I'm sure some of you have read Obama's two books, so read this one, too. This book is entirely factual (the author even uses footnotes to back up his statements.)
Then please report back to tell me how great, wonderful and Messiah-like Your Barack Hussein Obama is.

Obama's press conference

One word, "UH."

As far as his collegiate credentials, no one knows, as he hasn't released any records, I wonder why.

Chesapeake Goes for Obama

This will be my last post on the subject of Obama. President Elect Obama has won and won very BIG. The people have spoken. I dislike the
continued negativity from some of you. I recommend that those of us in support of President Obama not give these bigots a continued audience with our words. I am not speaking of people who did not vote for Obama because of policy differences. I am speaking of those that did not vote because of his color. Let's not answer the naysayers any longer - let them talk with each other and continue down their paths of bigotry. We are victorius and we wish the best for America. If they continue their ideology and embrace ignornance, God help them and God bless those Americans that were able to vote yes for President elect Obama!!

2008,and yet its still a

2008,and yet its still a shame that predujice is still alive and kicking. Its pitiful how so many white people quickly changed after one election.Who cares how he got into Harvard or Columbia, obviously his grades were good enough to keep him enrolled in college....its sad that you can be so afraid of change. Its about time that this country finally broke tradition...I mean lets be honest, this isnt the first time this country as has been in recession, and it wasnt a black man that was president........so give the man a chance and stop passing judgement.

OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA.......

News Flash

For all you “my candidate is smarter than your candidate” folks out there, breaking news from the president elect’s first news conference: "I Will Confront This Economic Crisis Head-on!" Great thinking!! Umm, isn't that why you were elected.

Directly after the press conference, he called Nancy Regan, who is in the hospital, to apologize to her. Smooth. Great start! BTW, Nancy Regan had an astrologer, it was actually Hillary Clinton that was loosely linked to talking to the dead. It’s gonna be a fun 4 years! "I’m coming Wheezy!!" Great stuff!

On the contrary

Obama wasn't admitted to Columbia & Harvard through affirmative action. He didn't fill out the blank asking race on his applications. Yet 1 still would have to meet the highest standards to receive scholarships to these schools, which is what Obama did. I'm older than you. We were given B's on A+ work,(We'd get 100 correct out of 100, plus the 10pt. bonus question, & still they'd give us B's), by some White teachers, during early integration. That's just a statement of fact; I'm not comparing it to anything. I also saw White students receive A's for buying season football tickets, on academic courses they were failing. Just another statement of fact.

You guys kill me!

“My candidate is smarter than your candidate”,…”This is a historic event”,..yadda yadda. This “historic” event has taken place 5 times in the last 55 years. During bad economic times, (US recessions of ’53, '57, ’80, '90, and the oil crisis of 73!) the executive party in charge is given the boot, always! Why would anyone think that the current “worst economic crisis since the Great Depression” is any different?

Obama was elected because of the economy period. The “not-a-republican” nominee could have been Gumby and would have been reigned in as the first still action clay figure to be elected. Remember Clinton’s slogan when he defeated Bush 41 “It’s the economy stupid”??? Well it’s the economy plain and simple.

To TwoMiler2

The reason he was admitted to Columbia, Harvard Law, etc., was because of affirmative action...I remember that well...I was wait-listed at Harvard because of minority quotas back in the early '70s...I was second in my class at a Catholic High School (entrace exam required) in New England...let's see where Obama ranked in his class, LSAT results, etc. He got in because of affirmative action. I'm still not impressed as he "fumbled" his way through the press conference today. He couldn't even complete a sentence properly. Now, JFK was quick and smart on his fett...Obama is nowhere near his ability to handle the press.

You must have watched a different news conference than i did

"marks57720 on Fri, 11/07/2008 at 6:42 pm.
I watched as Obama fumbled his way through the press conference today...making excuses and tap-dancing his way through serious questions."

I didn't see him tap dance around anything. There are secret service info he cannot comment on, he clearly stated that we can only have one president at a time, and he talked about issues at hand.

I think the real problem is your candidate lost!

remember, Obama is

an honor grad of Columbia U., holds a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law & taught Constitutional Law at the college level. How, pray tell, do any of my fellow posters have the audacity to call such a person stupid or a moron, etc, as some of you have written?

We've All had a "slip of the tongue"

Which is what Obama's statement on 57 states was. A mistake without thinking clearly, when 1 is exhausted, just as McCain's misspeak was when he was trying to denounce Murtha's statement on the people of western Penn. Fox's reporting of Palin's ignorance of basic civics & geography, if true, is much more worrisome. We are all ignorant of something. I believe Mrs. Palin is smart enough to bone up on subjects pertinent to 1 wishing to be involved in national & international politics. What bothers me is, if, again, Fox's report is factual, why she didn't see the need to learn these things once McCain nominated her for his VP.

I love stirring liberals up.

Boy, you liberals came out of the woodwork all fired up concerning my earlier comment. I love it when I have that power over you. You all are wrapped too tight. BREATH. Again. Feeling better now? Catch ya next time.

What's the purpose?

What's the point of this small clip? Ooops, we made an error? The majority of Chesapeake voted for Obama and your point is. Sorry, but that's not relevent news to what WE DO KNOW... Obama is the next President of our great nation. I will give the man a chance to prove to me that he will make a good president. I do know that he is in for one heck of a ride with the nation in recession and our fight against terrorists whether abroad or on our own soil. He has one of the greatest challenges in his life and that's, how do we turn our country around to be prosperous again, how do we create jobs, how do we save Social Security benefits, how can we provide better assistance for our veterans and our troops coming back from Iraq, but most importantly, how do we fight terrorists. It will surprise me if Obama can cut the mustard.
