A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in Hampton early this morning, police said.
Officers responded about 1:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of East Pembroke Avenue, and upon arrival, they discovered the teen with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, police spokeswoman Allison Good said.
He was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, where he was pronounced dead, she said.
The boy was identified as Xavier Denzel Barringer-Blackney, of the 1800 block of Shell Road. Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887).
