Kaine doesn't want national Democratic post while governor

Posted to: News Virginia

RICHMOND

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine on Wednesday ruled out becoming the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

“I’m not interested in it as long as I’m governor,” Kaine said during a news conference.

Kaine became rumored as a possible candidate earlier this week after Howard Dean, the current DNC chairman, announced he would not seek a second term. President-elect Barack Obama, a close political ally of Kaine’s, will appoint a new chairman.

Kaine’s term as governor ends in early 2010. He has said he would not leave early to accept a job in the Obama administration. Becoming DNC chairman, however, would not have required him to resign as governor.

Governor Kaine

Governor Kaine is doing just fine, and the only people who don't think so are republicans that can't and won't be pleased no matter what. We need Governor Kaine right where he is until his term is up and then I'm sure he'll be placed by President elect Obama who will be president for 8 years.

You can quit, Tim....

I won't mind a bit.

“I’m not interested in it as long as I’m governor,”

Do it for Virginny

Come on do it for Virginny... we need a break

Kaine has done nothing for VA.

Kaine has done nothing for VA. He will not be missed.

All come on Timmy

We'd like see you’re accomplishments on a national level like you have done for the citizens of Virginia and that is nothing.
