A Suffolk man was arrested on child pornography charges while using a computer at the Franklin library, Franklin police said Monday.

Christopher Hicks, 33, was arrested after Franklin police got a tip from Virginia Beach police that Hicks was working on a library computer Friday and communicating with an investigator in Louisiana, said Lt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin police.

Police went to the library, located Hicks and arrested him, Whitt said.

Hicks, of the 1200 block of Barnes Road in Suffolk, is being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

He is charged with reproducing, selling, giving, electronically transmitting or possessing child pornography and using a communications system or other electronic means for soliciting a person over the Internet, believing that the person was a child of less than 18, Whitt said.

The investigation is continuing and more charges could be coming, Whitt said.
