Man guilty of assaulting comatose patient in Chesapeake

Posted to: Chesapeake Crime News

CHESAPEAKE

A former nursing home employee accused of assaulting a comatose patient pleaded guilty this morning to felony aggravated sexual battery.

Mark S. Albright, of the 1400 block of Rodgers St., faces up to 20 years in prison, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Amar Meda said.

Police said Albright, a licensed practical nurse, was working at Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center when a female employee entered the room of a 43-year-old patient the night of July 3. She saw Albright “with his mouth on” the woman’s breast, according to a police affidavit filed in court.

The patient had been at the facility for about a year and was in a coma, police said. Albright no longer works there.

He is scheduled for sentencing March 24, Meda said.
