NASCAR boss rips ABC for moving race for 'Home Videos'

Posted to: Auto Racing Sports

NASCAR Chairman Brian France criticized ABC this afternoon for moving the final 34 minutes of Sunday's race to ESPN2 in the Eastern and Central time zones to show an episode of "America's Funniest Home Videos.''

"We didn't like it,'' France said during a teleconference with reporters. "That was not what we had anticipated, but we have talked to them repeatedly in the last couple of days.''

Bloomberg News reported that ABC's overnight ratings dropped 18 percent after it cut away from the closing stages of the race.

France also talked today about whether there might be possible changes to testing, to the Chase system, the schedule or race lengths. Read more in the NASCAR blog.

The IndyCar Series is where

The IndyCar Series is where it's at. NASCAR is slooooooooooooooow.

clueless

What do you really know about Nascar? Apparently NOTHING. There is a lot more to it than going around in circles and chosing what part of the track to race on. As for the fan base and Army sponsorship - I would challenge to say that the Nascar audience is the target audience for the Armed forces.

Get used to it

They don't care about NASCAR only the money from commercials.

NASCAR Racing Is For Sissies...

#1 They don't race in the rain...

#2 They refuse to race thru "The Boot" at Watkins Glen...

nascar sponsorship

Hopefully, the Bush Bribe Money to nascar will be soon a thing of the past. Spending millions of dollars to sponsor cars is just a waste of good military money. Having a car with USArmy on it, running around in circles does not influence anybody to join the Army.

Take these millions of dollars and spend it on improving the life of men and women in the military. They deserve it. A pay raise might help.
