Need a reason to vote? Try free coffee, doughnuts, ice cream

Posted to: Elections News Politics

So, why are you voting on Election Day?

Sense of civic duty? Hankering to have a hand in history? Passionate about party politics?

Excellent reasons all, but you may be happy to know that exercising your rights will net you some free stuff, too.

Here’s a rundown of some businesses that will sweeten your suffrage, just for showing a little “I Voted” sticker.

- Participating Starbucks will give you a free tall brewed coffee today just for saying you voted.

- The “Hot Doughnuts Now” sign is out at Krispy Kreme, where your sticker is good for a free red, white and blue doughy treat.

- Participating Ben & Jerry’s locations will give out free scoops from 5-8 p.m. today.

- A vote by any other name will get you a sweet-smelling free rose all week at any Norfolk Florist store.

- Some Chick-Fil-A stores are offering a free chicken sandwich for voting.

- Sonic Drive-Ins will give you a free drink with your "I Voted" sticker. Hint - go for the cherry limeade.

Tropical Smoothie Café stores are offering a discount of $1.14, or the date, off your order if you show your “I voted” sticker today.

- If you’re a music fan you can download a free live cover of Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” by the bands Wilco and Fleet Foxes at www.wilcoworld.net just for pledging to vote.

free stuff for voting

Sonic near Jefferson and Denbigh is not offering free drinks. Manager knows nothing about the promo.

chick-malaise

I called my local Chick-Fil-A and was told I would have to buy fries and a drink in order to get the sandwich for free, so where were these FREE sandwiches? Paying for other things to get the FREEBIE must be the McCain way. Thanks to Starbucks for honoring what was/is promised in print. I didn't bother with the other places after Mis-Fil-A-stake

Looks like it's okay

I found the legal reference:

No person may offer or accept anything of value to influence anyone’s vote.

That wording would mean only if you try to influence how someone votes not if they do or not. That's just VA and other states may be different.

Hmmm

How come most of the comments on here have NOTHING to do with FREE FOOD !?!?!?!?!?!?! Get a grip people. Then go vote. Then go get some free food. Nuf said

D

They are not paying you TO vote. They are giving out freebies AFTER you vote. All you need to show is your "I Voted" sticker. Nothing illegal about that.

I guess not

I guess it's not illegal, as long as you don't tell people who to vote for.

Anyone know if the Chick-Fil-A on General Booth Blvd. (next to Ihop) is doing the give away? We drove by after voting and didn't see any signs or anything.

Illegal?

Isn't this illegal? You can't pay someone in cash or gifts to vote.

Racism At It's Worst

It's a shame that there is so much hatred in this United States of America. This country was founded on the sweat of Blacks as well as Whites. There has to be a special place in hell for those of you that think that your skin color makes you better.

Since McCain sponsored a bill against coal in 2005

why would you vote for him?

tax coal into bankruptcy?

If you hate your Dominion VA power bill now, wait until coal is taxxed into bankruptcy.

Go McCain/Palin.
