Soccer: Cyrus tops all-state; Metro, TCIS, Prep League all-stars named

Norfolk Academy’s Jordan Cyrus has been named state co-Player of the Year by the state’s Division I private school boys soccer coaches.

Cyrus shares the honor with Episcopal High School’s Given Kalipinde.

Two other Norfolk Academy players were named to the private school all-state first team: Nate Ott and goalkeeper  Devon DuBay.

Making the second team were the Bulldogs’ Kyle Nero and Norfolk Collegiate goalkeeper Spencer Henry.

Norfolk Academy’s John Beasley received honorable mention.

In Division II, for the state’s smaller private schools, Atlantic Shores’ Daniel O’Malley and David Rouleau were named first-team all-state.

Making the Division II second team were the Seahawks’ Philip Tull, Portsmouth Christian’s Seth Buckmaster, and Norfolk Christian’s Drew Hartell and Timmy Williamson. Atlantic Shores’ Miles Oxenford received honorable mention.

Also, Norfolk Academy put five players on the All-Virginia Prep League team:  Beasley, Cyrus, Nero, Ott and DuBay. The Bulldogs’ Sean Wetmore was named the Virginia Prep League Coach of the Year.
