U.Va. professors land spots on Obama transition team

University of Virginia law professors Jonathan Cannon and David Martin have been named members of President-elect Barack Obama's transition team.

Martin will serve on the Agency Review Team for the Department of Homeland Security. Cannon will join a team on the Environmental Protection Agency.

Martin, who is the Warner-Booker Distinguished Professor of International Law, is co-author of a leading casebook on immigration and citizenship. He also served as general counsel of the Immigration and Naturalization Service from 1995 to 1998.

Cannon, the Blaine T. Phillips Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law, served as general counsel for the EPA from 1995 to 1998. He has also written on the 2006 U.S. Supreme Court decision that affirmed the agency's right to regulate greenhouse gases.
