The Virginia Council on Economic Education has given awards to an elementary school teacher and a former school administrator with Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond named Georgia Christie as one of 10 outstanding economic educators of the year for her commitment to economic education. Christie retired in September as a social studies coordinator for the department of curriculum and instruction.

Lisa Zebley, a first-grade teacher at Christopher Farms Elementary School, won a second-place economic education award for her elementary lesson plan called “Buying and Selling Down on the Farm.”
