Wind restrictions at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel have been lifted.

A Level 2 restriction had been placed on the crossing after winds were reported at 47 mph, officials there said this morning.

Motorcycles, large pickup campers, camper trailers, house trailers and vehicles with exterior cargo were not being allowed to cross the bridge, according to a message on the tunnel’s weather hotline.

Vehicles towing anything also could not cross the span.

Small, six-wheel trucks such as moving vans, rental trucks and school buses also were prohibited, according to the message.

Tractor-trailers had to gross 30,000 pounds of payload in addition to the weight of the rig and trucks with six wheels were required to gross 15,000 pounds of payload in addition to the rig’s weight in order to cross, the message says.

Tractors without trailers and empty tanker trucks were allowed to cross.
