No one was hurt this morning when a car cut in front of a school bus on Centerville Turnpike then sped away, a schools spokesman said.

Randy Johnson, 45, of Dolina Drive in Virginia Beach, was arrested within an hour of the crash and booked into jail on charges of driving under the influence and hit and run, police spokeswoman Margie Long said.

The crash happened this morning before 8 a.m. as the bus carried about 20 students bound for Indian River High School, said Tom Cupitt, school division spokesman.

A red Toyota cut in front of the bus, crashed into it and sped away, he said, adding that authorities believe the car has been found.

Chesapeake police have not released any information about the bus crash.
