Barack Obama might have thought a majority in the Electoral College would be enough to ensure him the presidency, to provide an indisputable exclamation mark after the 67 million votes he won in November.
That’s only because Obama won’t admit the truth: The Hawaii-born former senator from Illinois isn’t really a “natural-born” citizen of the United States of America and is, therefore, ineligible to be president.
It’s true!
There are lawsuits, and blogs, and Web sites filled with things that look like facts! Heck, there was even a full-page ad in the Chicago Tribune, before its parent company declared bankruptcy!
If the mainstream media weren’t in cahoots with the courts, and if everybody would bother to read the U.S. Constitution, we’d all know that the presidential election of 2008 isn’t finished, heaven help us.
Despite the fact that he was born in Honolulu to an American mother and has the birth certificate to prove it, Obama isn’t really an American, according to lawsuits filed by people who really need to consider finding a hobby.
The certifiable certificate hunters occupy just one branch of the crazy tree of deniers who have crafted a tangle of competing claims, none of which makes anything like sense:
1. Obama’s birth certificate is a fake, forged by the state of Hawaii, which would be plain if the campaign would just release it, along with his letters of admission to Occidental College, Columbia and Harvard.
2. The decision to release the birth certificate to the well-respected FactCheck.org Web site (which confirmed its authenticity) proves that Obama has something to hide, since facts are untrustworthy.
3. The publication of a birth announcement in the local paper 47 years ago proves nothing, since that was a ruse to protect the infant Obama’s ability to run for president, since he was actually born in Kenya.
4. Even if Obama was born in Hawaii to an American mother and can prove it, his father was a Kenyan, and, therefore, Obama isn’t a natural-born citizen, despite the fact that he was born in America to an American mother.
5. Actually, his father was British. But same thing.
6. Since Obama later lived in Indonesia with his mother, he actually became an Indonesian citizen, because anyone who lives anywhere other than the United States automatically becomes a citizen of that country. It’s in a book someplace.
7. Because Obama hasn’t been willing to directly answer questions dropping from the crazy tree — and because the courts have refused to make him — then Obama is a traitor, and nobody has to listen to him when he’s president.
That last one seems to be the goal, of course, of the whole bizarre campaign, which would be meaningless to most of us except for the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court wasted a few minutes recently batting aside a lawsuit on the subject.
These conspiracy kooks (more than a few of whom also believe that George W. Bush ordered the 9/11 attacks) have erected an impenetrable wall of lunacy around Obama’s citizenship, and no birth certificate or testimony, no court decision or proof can penetrate it.
If you don’t agree with such certainties, it’s only because you’re too gullible.
If that kind of reasoning sounds familiar, it should; the naivete of the populace has been the bane of every conspiracy theorist since the Masons built the pyramids with help from aliens.

SIMPLE SOLUTION & full transparency ?
Simply call his alma mater, OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE, ask for the registrar, Vic, and get his admission paperwork. This should show his nationality, his tuition program, his personal claims etc. GOOD LUCK !!
This Conspiracy Theory argument is actually a vast left wing
conspiracy created by the media to discredit the conservative voice. It is liberals, not conservatives who have so loudly made these arguments about the birth certificates, citizenship, etc. then let the feeding frenzy begin. Now when something shady is challenged later, they will then refer to this circus and say, "the kooks are at it again."
A brilliantly played strategy.
They have preemptively discredited their critics years before President Obama has even commited the act that would draw criticism. It is brilliant!
(-Next week the location of their secret volcano lair is revealed-)

I loved your paragraph on conspiracy theorists. You were right on point especially as to their special access to facts. You have to admit, they are entertaining, but it gets old after a while. Just for entertainment, conspiracy theory HOF: Kennedy assasination, 9-11, Pearl Harbor, Area 51, Moon landings, Roswell.
When will the madness end?
Well said, demosthenes, edward c, Flether, edward, TR, PR9383, georges, Alfred, cFrederick, and a few others! Unfortunately, the conspiracy theories will continue and there is really nothing we can do to stop them, as you all have said. Aaaandre's comment is too funny! "old media keeps repeating their incorrect interpretation of the facts." If anybody is repeating their incorrect interpretation of the facts, it is clearly the conspiracy theorists such as Aaaandre and others that have spread their propaganda on this board. Yet, once again as I have mentioned, they have yet to prove their false claims with anything but more false claims, rumors, etc. Too funny! Oh, and to michaelc, I have never had to show or produce my birth certificate just to get a job.
How did the Framers
How did the Framers understand the term natural born citizen?
The Constitution references the Law of Nations, international law since the 1730s, which states, "The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights."
The chief framer of the 14th Amendment, John A. Bingham stated, "every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen."
Orion, you fail
Orion wrote "Yep, BOTH parents have to be citizens."
You then quoted from Title 8, section 1401 paragraph (d).
But you failed to note paragraph (g) of that same section which states:
"a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years"
This law is effective for all persons born after 1952
edwardc you are right about
edwardc you are right about the fact that you have to be born on american soil to be a natural born citizen, but when Obama can not prove he was born in the U.S. and he is spending more money to hide his birth certificate locking it up in a voult,it makes one wonder. Like i said earlier have you seen it with your own eyes, do you have the actual proof he was born here? until you can prove it or Obama can present it to the American people, I along with millions of other Americans will have to continue to say he was born in Kenya like his grandmother has admitted. If he has nothing to hide, then why isn't he presenting us with his original long form birth certificate. I do commend you for serving 24 yrs in the military and serving our country. It makes no differance to me who you voted for, as far as I am concern you could have voted for captain Kangaroo, facts are facts. I'm not saying Obama would make a bad president, were just asking for proof that he's legally eligible to run the most powerful country in the world. Yes we are trying to show the crazies we do care about America, that's why we want to know who Obama is and we are trying to show love and patience to all the mentally
Way to bring down the room, Edwardc numbers
"this is so laughable except these nuts probably have guns"
When you put it that way it does seem to be a dangerous cocktail.
Alferd is right, nokorter is wrong
>>>FACT: Even if both of your parents are US citizens, and you're born overseas, you are not a "natural born citizen"<<<
False
Don't take my word for it though. Don't go off the cliff notes version on wikipedia either, or some schoolyard rumor, what you heard at the cottage when you were a kid, what some random guy on the internet said, or whatever. Go to the source and (here, I'll help you)
read and _all_ of Section 1401 of Title 8 U.S. Code for yourself
Make sure you read it all the way to the bottom.
I haven't yet decided if
I haven't yet decided if half of you are serious and therefore absolutely crazy, or if you just like a good, nutty, crazy debate for the heck of it!
If you are born a US citizen, you are a natural born citizen! If you are a naturalized citizen, you were not born a US citizen, but the citizen of another country, and BECAME a US citizen by a process other than by birth.
Pretty simple, really.
this is so laughable except these nuts probably have guns
Disneyfreak1956, I read the Constitution before I wrote my comment. It doesn't matter where a persons parents are from if that person is born on U.S. soil he or she is a "natural born citizen". As for the rest of your silly remarks, well I voted for Obama and have no concerns about having done so. I served this country in the Military for 24 years and continue to do so as a civilian working for the government. The people who have doubts about Obama's citizenship really are just like the crazies who still think our own government was behind the 9/11 attacks. Facts mean nothing to them and never will all we can do is show them the same patience and love that we show all the mentally handicapped.
Your Geography is off Georges
You mean Alaska, specifically Klan Palin and the Alaska Independance Party . . . Now there's a conspiracy theory with some facts behind it. I wonder why the so called liberal media isn't all over that story? Probably because it doesn't sell potato chips and soda. Oh wait you were joking but they are serious.

So is a driver's license, but it doesn't make me a natural born citizen. What is being shown is a Certificate of Live Birth; this is NOT a birth certificate but a hospital certification.

Uh, wrong (from the US Code), "born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person[s]" are considered "nationals and citizens of the United States at birth."

Yep, BOTH parents have to be citizens...

Doesn't Matter
Hawaii wants to secede from the U.S. so birth certs from there don't count... Ok so I can't even type it with a straight face anymore, it's just too easy to stir this pot. =)
dual citizenship
Nokorter asked: ”How can an alleged natural born have dual US / Kenyan citizenship?”
Well I guess that means no one with Irish or italian grandparents can be president either.
What about the Jews? Are they all automaticly excluded?
The only sense I can parse
The only sense I can parse out of this tortured sentence is the sense of irony in the "content that follows it:
"Using a bucketful of half truths, spin and outright lies it seeks to bestow facts unproven as yet on our potential President Elect."
Conspiracy theorists have a *special* relationship with evidence. They tend to reject facts accepted by most people as tainted and instead turn to sources far outside of the mainstream as obviously true and valid. Conspiracy theorists beleive they have some special access to the truth that most people lack. Conspiracy theorists discount typically accepted expertise and cling to folk science, fringe beliefs and, in many cases, the purest of bunk. Conspiracy theorists can not accept any truth that punctures their hermetically sealed world, therefore they cannot in most cases be reasoned with. They can however be ridiculed. . .
CB
CB, yes he did. There is a digital image of it available on-line. I'm sure you can find it.
This is a legal document. What do you want? to have Obama fly you personally to Hawaii so that the clerk can hand a stamped, certified copy to you?
For reasons that I have already laid out, it doesn't really matter where he was born. If he was born in Hawaii, then he is a natural born citizen. If he was born in Kenya, he is also a natural born citizen by virture of his mother being a citzen.
it's really that simple.
Was this a true/false test?
---FACT: There is a difference between being a "US Citizen" and a "Natural Born Citizen"---
True. A U.S. citizen can be either a “natural” citizen (i.e. by right of being born a U.S. citizen) or a “naturalized” citizen (by way of the naturalization process). If you were born a citizen, then you are a natural born citizen. The term “natural born” is somewhat redundant.
---FACT: The constitution states only "Natural born citizens" are eligible for the presidency
True, you have to have been born a citizen
---FACT: Even if both of your parents are US citizens, and you're born overseas, you are not a "natural born citizen"
False – Natural born means citizenship by right of birth. If you are born a citizen, then you are a natural born citizen.
---FACT: Barack Obama has produced a copy of his Hawaiian "Certification of Live Birth" to factcheck.org
True – It is a certified legal document.
---FACT: A "Certification of live birth" is a short form version of a full "Certificate of live birth" in Hawaii.
True – but that does not diminish it’s status as a legitimate legal document.
---FACT: Up until 1963, H
Alfred...
Dude, he did not!!!
