SUFFOLK

Cory T. Hill, of Smithfield, was sentenced to 33 years in prison Monday for robbing two Advance America payday loan businesses in Suffolk, one in December 2007 and another early this year.

Hill, 32, was charged with two counts of robbery, use of a firearm, abduction and wearing a mask in public. In one of the robberies, Hill peeled off the mask and peered into a security camera before walking out the door.

He said he used toy guns during the robberies.

"I'm truly sorry for the pain that I created," Hill said before he was sentenced. "I disrupted the lives of innocent people."
