Police looking for gunman in Virginia Beach bank robbery

VIRGINIA BEACH

Police are investigating an armed bank robbery at a Wachovia branch this morning.

The incident occurred at 9:38 a.m. when a man walked into the bank in the 4200 block of Holland Road, donning dark ski mask. The suspect ran away, but may have red dye on him from an exploding dye pack, said police spokeswoman Margie Long.

The suspect, a black male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt under a black coat, ran south on South Plaza Trail after the robbery. According to a preliminary description given by police, the man is in his 20s or 30s and stands between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10.

No injuries were reported. Police encourage anyone with information about this morning's robbery to the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
