VIRGINIA BEACH

A 16-year-old boy is being held without bond in the city's Juvenile Detention Center in connection with the stabbing of another teen Tuesday at Lynnhaven Mall, police said.

A 15-year-old boy was sent to the hospital after being stabbed in the arm during a fight with the older teen, who was charged with malicious assault, police said.

Police were called at 7:27 p.m. for a report of a person being stabbed inside the mall near Steve & Barry's, said Officer Adam Bernstein, a Beach police spokesman. Early reports indicate the two teens had a dispute at school on Tuesday and the fight carried over into the mall.

Bernstein said the two exchanged words and one stabbed the other in the arm.
