Trial of missionaries' shooting delayed in Chesapeake

Posted to: Chesapeake Crime News

The trial of a Chesapeake man accused of shooting two Mormon missionaries was delayed today.

The prosecution and defense have rested their case. The jury, assembled nearly a month ago, could begin deliberations when it resumes.

Boughton, 22, of the city’s Camelot section, faces charges of first-degree murder, malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding and three firearm offenses. He is accused of fatally shooting Morgan W. Young and wounding Joshua Heidbrink on Jan. 2, 2006, as the two missionaries proselytized in Deep Creek.

The trial began Nov. 10.
