It was the last match of the night and past my deadline for the newspaper. I stuck around because I heard that the 285- pound match for the Group AAA state wrestling title – featuring Cox High School’s Jack Burbank – was going to be good. And I could post the images online.
It was an exciting match, and after clinching the title in overtime Burbank ran over to his coach, Corey Williams, and lifted him effortlessly in celebration.
The emotion and energy in this photo never wanes – it speaks of pure joy.
