Gov. Kaine, John Warner take roles in inauguration dinners

Posted to: Elections News Politics Virginia

WASHINGTON

Two prominent Virginians have accepted high-profile roles in inauguration eve dinners that the incoming Obama administration hopes will highlight its commitment to bipartisan government.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, a Democrat, will serve as master of ceremonies at a dinner honoring Vice President-elect Joe Biden, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced this morning. The event will be at Union Station.

Former U.S. Sen. John Warner, a Republican, will introduce former secretary of state and retired Army Gen. Colin Powell at a National Building Museum dinner honoring Powell.

A third dinner will honor Republican Sen. John McCain, whom Obama defeated in last November’s election.

The inaugural committee said the invitation-only dinners on Monday will be attended by a cross-section of political activists and leaders of both major parties.

Kaine should just stay in Washington

Kaine should just stay in Washington, he is not doing anything for Virginia.
