The goose called "Solo" is alone no more.
When more than 60 geese were captured at Mount Trashmore last month and relocated to a farm in North Carolina, one was left behind.
On Friday, Lisa Barlow, president of Wildlife Response in Virginia Beach, went to Mount Trashmore with a friend, some corn and the city's permission to catch Solo.
After feeding the goose for 10 minutes, she said, they had caught it.
"We just wanted to get the goose with its family," Barlow said.
After a veterinarian checked the bird and found no problems, she hauled it to South Hill, Va., where she was met by a volunteer from Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. Solo was released Sunday at the farm, Why Not An American Ark, where the other Trashmore geese have taken up residence.
"He joined a big group," said Jennifer Gordon, director of the Carolina rescue group. "And there was lots and lots of honking. He knew everybody there, so he was definitely glad to be back."
