NASCAR tracks are dealin', dealin', dealin on tickets

In the last few days, at least five tracks _ all owned by International Speedway Corp. _ have announced that they're lowering some tickets to upcoming races at Daytona, Richmond, Martinsville, Talladega and Darlington. They join a couple of other tracks that have lowered ticket prices.

 

Here are the deals:

 

RICHMOND (Cup races May 2 and Sept. 12)

Track is restructuring about 18,000 tickets in the Henrico Grandstand (along the backstretch). The change is good for both the May and "for events for the forseeable future,'' according to a release from the track.

 

Tickets in that section in rows 1-5 are now $40 (track says that's a 50 percent discount from May 2008 prices). Tickets in Henrco Grandstand in rows 6-15 are now $55 (track says that's a 25 percent discount from May 2008 prices)

MARTINSVILLE (For March 29 Cup race)

 

Four-pack: Four adult tickets for $159, a savings of $41.

 

Family four-pack: 2 adult and 2 tickets for children (12 and under) for $99, a savings of $41

 

Children 12-18: Ticket discounts of half off in selected areas, up to a savings of $30

 

College students: Half off a ticket for all college students with a college ID, a savings of $30

DAYTONA 500 (Feb. 15)

 

A limited number of tickets along the superstretch (backstretch) will be reduced from $99 to $55. The track states the $55 ticket price is the  lowest for a ticket for that race since 1995.

TALLADEGA (Cup races April 26 and Nov. 1)

 

Track is reducing more than 20,000 seats to $40. These tickets are off turn four and along the frontstretch. Tickets discounted are normally sold by the track for $70 and $75.

DARLINGTON (Cup race May 9)

 

Tickets to the Colvin grandstand (along the backstretch) in rows 3-14 have been reduced to $35, a savings of $10. About 9,000 tickets have been reduced.

TEXAS (Cup races April 5 and Nov. 8)

 

Track is offering $20 backstretch seats to its Cup races. Those seats are in the first two rows and there are a total of about 1,080 such seats at that price. Maximum of four tickets per person.

 

Track will have a blanket price of $40 per seat for the remaining 10 rows of backstretch seats. That's about 8,750 seats at that price.

 

Also has a family 4-pack: 4 tickets, four hot dogs and four Cokes for $159.

 

The $20 tickets are available only by calling the track at (817) 215-8500. All other tickets can be purchased by calling the ticket office or going to www.texasmotorspeedway.com

 

AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY -- CALIFORNIA

 

Deal for the Feb. 22 Cup race there is: Tickets in the first five rows are priced at $35. Seats are along the frontstretch since track doesn't have backstretch seats.
