Nearly 200 associates of Norfolk-based Operation Smile plan to meet in Virginia Beach next week to talk strategy.

Operation Smile, the charity that helps bring smiles to children across the globe, says representatives of nearly 30 countries plan to attend its Jan. 15-18 summit.

Participants will learn about the organization's growth, fundraising and efforts to secure the tools necessary to treat children with cleft lips and palates and other facial deformities.

Since Operation Smile was founded in 1982, volunteers have treated more than 120,000 children in 51 countries.
