Posted to: Crime Hampton News

An argument led to a fatal shooting in a Hampton parking lot on Saturday morning, police said.

The suspect, Christine L. Burrage, of the 3600 block of Kecoughtan Road, was arrested and charged with murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and carrying a concealed weapon after she was accused of killing 29-year-old Damon Andre Smooth.

Cpl. Paula Ensley, a police spokeswoman, said the deadly confrontation took place in a parking lot in the 2700 block of North Armistead Avenue.

Police responded to a call at 2 a.m. and discovered Smooth, of the 200 block of Culotta Drive, suffered for a gunshot wound.

During an investigation, officers obtained a possible description of a vehicle seen in that area of shooting. Several minutes later, they stopped a vehicle at Kecoughtan Road and Pocahontas Place and took the suspect into custody.

Burrage is being held in the Hampton City Jail.
