Speed Channel change, Bobby Labonte "excited'' and a private meeting

A few notes from the media tour ...

# Speed Channel will not bring back the show “Tradin Paint,’’ the show that featured John Roberts, Kyle Petty and a journalist discussing some of the issues of the day. The show will be replaced with what sounds like a game show based on NASCAR trivia for fans at the track. Roberts and Petty will remain with the show.

# As of now, no other major changes for Speed’s broadcast of NASCAR events or shows. No new talent. No talent has left.

# Nationwide is putting up $25,000 extra for the win at four standalone races this year for Nationwide regulars. It’s an effort to give those drivers who race on the circuit regularly to gain a bit more publicity and a little extra cash.

# Bobby Labonte actually said that he is “freaking excited’’ to have his ride with the No. 96 Hall of Fame Racing car with sponsorship from Ask.com. Really, he said that.

# Labonte on how tough things were in looking for a new ride after leaving Petty Enterprises after last season: “At times it was a little tough, but I just stayed tried and true and prayed a lot and things turned out way, way better than I thought, so I feel very fortunate.”

# Kevin Harvick hosted a truck owners meeting last week at his race shop to try to come up with ideas to help save teams money this season. Harvick said it was a good discussion but was coy on details.
