Trial date set for Chesapeake man accused of killing teen

CHESAPEAKE

An April 21 trial date has been set for Jarrel Eldridge, a 23-year-old Chesapeake man charged in a fatal shooting of a Portsmouth teen in the 1100 block of Excalibur St., in Camelot.

Eldridge faces charges of first-degee murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and use of a firearm in the offense. He is accused of shooting 18-year-old Rashawn Finney on Sept. 13. Finney, a senior at Portsmouth’s I.C. Norcom High School, died days later from his injuries.

Eldridge is being held without bail in the Chesapeake Correctional Center, pending a trial in Circuit Court.
