Oscar Smith 80, #5 Lakeland 77

Junior shooting guard Alonzo Holmes came off the bench to score 30 points as the visiting Tigers (3-12, 3-9) stunned the Cavaliers (12-4, 11-2) in Southeastern District play Tuesday night.

Holmes bunched 13 points in the fourth quarter, sealing the upset. Darin Nichols added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Brad Hudson sank two free throws with three seconds left to give Great Bridge its first win at Nansemond River (13-4, 9-4) since the Warriors entered the Southeastern District. Briante Weber triggered a decisive defensive performance by the Wildcats with eight steals and five blocks.

The No. 6 Bookers (11-5, 8-2) kept their hold on second place in the Eastern District, fueled by senior Quintin Spady’s 17 points. Gary Scott led a belated Granby rally with 11 points in the fourth quarter, finishing with 17.
