VWC grad makes it past round two on 'The Bachelor'

Not only did Megan Parris, a 2006 Virginian Wesleyan grad, make it past round two of cuts on ABC's "The Bachelor," but Jason called her name first! Thatta girl! The former VB resident went from almost being voted off by the other contestants on the first episode, to getting the first rose. And - she was one of the few girls who did not get a one-on-one date with Jason or a group date with the bachelor.

At the beginning of the episode, Jason pulled Megan aside first thing at the group pool party to "make sure she was okay." He thought Megan was having a bit of a rough time as the other girls voted her off, but she was not one of the 10 girls sent home. He wanted to check in with her and reassure her that she would have gotten a rose to stay from him, even though she got a "default rose" from the votes. Megan let him know that she was doing all right and they briefly got to talk alone.

But the claws came out amongst the ladies very quickly. A chill pool party turned into a vicious round of vying for Jason's attention, as there was a rose at stake for the first one-on-one date. Girls stole Jason from one another's conversations and Shannon even threw ice at Naomi and Jason to get his attention. Pathetic.

The two women who were chosen for the first fabulous one-on-one dates were Jillian and Melissa. Jillian was the first to get a date, dance and a nice long kiss from the bachelor; she was treated to a private performance by R&B artist Robin Thicke at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Dang!

Melissa, who I at first thought was a bit immature for Jason, had a dream date with Jason. They ate on the beach and then went on a panoramic ride over L.A. in the Goodyear Blimp. Jason and Melissa kissed on the beach, and then proceeded to make-out in the Blimp. Melissa surprised me a bit; she said she had been in a 7-year relationship from 15-22 and this was her first date in 3 years. Not bad for a first date. Jason said he hadn't shared that passionate of a kiss in a long while. Ummm....things are heating up between those two. (You could tell Jason perked up when she said her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading days were over and now she wanted to become a first grade teacher and a mom.)

On last night's episode, Jason only had to cut two women as opposed to three, as Lisa, a brunette who didn't get much air time, decided she needed to go home and be with her grandmother, who was fighting terminal cancer.

Megan said at that point that she felt confident that she wasn't one of the two women going home, despite getting into some more drama with the girls and not having a date with Jason before the rose ceremony.

Drama recap: It all hit the fan when Molly stole Jason away from Megan during their conversation (pic below), even after already getting "immunity" with a rose. Then, Megan overheard Erica and Molly in the kitchen and called Erica out on being two-faced in front of the girls. Megan and Erica went at it a bit, but Megan held her own. However, the cameras later showed Erica bad-mouthing Megan saying that she "had bad karma" and that's why they all voted her to leave the first episode. Jason however, knows the tension is a bit thicker, but doesn't seem to be tuned into the girls' petty fights.

Tune in next week for another recap.....  The preview of next week's episode looks like it will be filled with more Megan and Erica drama!

Hush hush

Who is Megan's ex-husband? A local? They're keeping his background rather quiet...personally I think the bachelorette from Alabama has the best chance...she's a widow, so she's not coming from a failed marriage.
