A bill to allow those with concealed-carry permits to take hidden guns into restaurants as long as they don't drink is on its way to the governor, who has rejected it before.
The Senate voted 22-16 Wednesday to send Sen. Emmett Hanger's bill to Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, who vetoed it last year. The vote was five shy of the two-thirds majority needed to override a veto.
The House took out a requirement that the person inform someone at the restaurant that he was carrying a concealed weapon. The Senate agreed to that change.
Currently, guns can be taken into restaurants as long as they are out in the open.

It appears you read my previous post before it was deleted, which is OK, because it was directed at you anyway. I will assume that you are in the legal profession in some capacity. My posts are no more or less frivolous than yours sir. I never assumed one answer for all things. I do err on the side of freedom though. You seem to challenge my patriotism simply because I won't roll over and like the opinion of a judge, a governor, or another poster on a specific matter. I have the same right to opine on a subject as you do. In my view the legal system has caused most of the problems we have today. The majority of congress and state legislatures are lawyers which proves my point. You're right on one thing though. I could never have the stomach to be a lawyer as I don't see any honor, courage, and commitment with most of them, but rather the $450.00 an hour they charge. There are a few that would fit in the category that you describe. I could however be a judge though, as I would read what The U. S. Constitution says rather than what I would like it say.
fair enough
You win I give up... Some folks have more time than others to post frivolous opinions and one-liners. The sense of liberty becomes eroded when an individual continuously states they have one answer for all things, and everyone else is wrong. State the elements and the FACTS. Do not challenge someone and their sense of freedom, honor, and duty... It much easier to criticize from your home, on your rear, than it is serving from a post OCONUS, isn't it? Never had the stomach to be lawyer or judge. Honor, Courage, Commitment. As with many people, their actions are their words.
once again, opinions rule the day
I have read several unqualified statements with regard to the legal system and its application (if you look like food, you're going to get eaten)... Which leads me to believe that somewhere a constitutional law professor didn't earn his/her pay check and stole your money. Fact is, no one hardly reads these postings in the mean time so you're lucky Mr. Madison aka keith. By the way, Madison said he wanted his wig back.

Nonsense!

Sorry, but there isn't any thing I can do about Governor Kaine, but somewhere along the way there HAS to be compromise on our current gun laws.
Gertz
Oh I understand perfectly. You and Gov. Kandy Kaine don't understand that commonwealth's attorneys of Virginia are ALSO human as well, yet the governor will allow these people, who have had no formal training, and would probably shoot themselves in the foot, carry concealed or otherwise into establishments that serve alcohol based upon the fact of who they are. In addition, they would NOT suffer severe consequences if they wounded an innocent bystander as they are representatives of the state. Kaine doesn't give any creditibility to people who have undergone the proper training and background checks for CCW permits and yet he would let a commonwealths attorney with about as much firearms skills as a bowl of oatmeal, carry concealed or openly into an establishment that serves alcohol. Left wing democrats make the rules then exempt themselves.

"People are human and humans make mistakes."
Gun owners are human weahter they have a CW permit or not, and humans make mistakes. I'm sorry if you can't understand that.
Gertz
Gertz writes "But I will say this: You cannot lump ALL people as responsible when it comes to gun ownership or anything else in life. People are human and humans make mistakes."
But Gertz you just HAVE lumped ALL responsible folks with CCW permits as irresponsible. You want to have your guns AND ammo ...sorry cake and icing too don't you?
Jermflux
Does calling me an old hag make you feel better about yourself?????
another assumption
"The headline probably would have been something along the lines of "Concealed Permit Holder's Gun Used in Juvenile Killing."
I'm not so sure you can speak for the Virginia Piot.
