“Evermore” by Alyson Noël is the first book in the author’s new series, “The Immortals.” This novel takes readers into the paranormal life of 16-year-old Ever Bloom.

Ever’s family dies in a car accident, but she survives. After waking up in a hospital room, she finds that she has acquired supernatural powers: She can see people’s auras, hear their personal thoughts and know their whole life story by simply touching them.

Ever feels like a freak and is considered to be one by society.

She keeps her abilities a secret, even from her Aunt Sabine, who takes her in, and her two best friends, Haven and Miles.

After the accident, she moves to California and starts a new life.

Everything changes when a new boy, Damen Auguste, enrolls at her high school. Ever cannot hear his thoughts, and every time he touches her, she feels nothing but warmth inside. She finds herself falling in love, but she knows that something is not quite right about him.

At the end of the book, his secret is finally revealed. Even Ever finds that there are many hidden secrets about her past.

“Evermore” is an enticing romance-mystery that leaves the reader craving more.
