VIRGINIA BEACH

The estate of the teen driver who crashed into another vehicle last year on Salem Road, killing himself and two passengers and wounding the other driver, is being sued.

Matthew Kirkbride was driving a Volkswagen on Nov. 14 when he lost control and slid across the center line of Salem Road, where a van slammed into the car. Kirkbride, 18, and both of his 17-year-old passengers, Joseph Jenkins and Adam Ross Sherman, were killed.

The other driver, listed in court records as Bart Craig Flora, was seriously injured.

Flora is suing for $1 million; the families of Sherman and Jenkins are each suing for $2 million. All three suits claim Kirkbride was negligent and driving recklessly.
