A driver led state police on a convoluted high-speed chase along two interstates and through three cities Wednesday evening.

According to state police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Cotten the incident began at 7:17 p.m. on westbound Interstate 264 near Brambleton Avenue. State police tried to stop a Cheverolet Aspen SUV, but the driver did not stop, Cotten said.

The driver proceeded through the Downtown Tunnel, then turned around and came back through the tunnel into Norfolk, traveling on I264 at speeds over 100 miles per hour, then onto Interstate 64 westbound, Cotten said.

The driver exited I64 at 15th View Street just before the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, got back onto the interstate headed east and continued all the way into Chesapeake, where he exited at Battlefield Boulevard, Cotten said.

Police were able to stop the driver after he struck two police cruisers and another vehicle, Cotten said. No one was injured.

Officers arrested Brandon King, 25, of Norfolk. According to Cotten, King was wanted in Norfolk on assault and stolen vehicle charges.

King has been charged with felony hit and run, reckless driving, eluding police, resisting arrest and damaging state property, Cotten said.
